This guide explains how the map visualization works and how to navigate the data.
1. Dynamic Zoom Levels
Zoom 3-5 (Country Level): You will see markers representing the total number of communities across entire countries.
Zoom 6-7-8 (Regional/Provincial/Canton Level): Markers will aggregate data into smaller geographical areas (regions, provinces, cantons), showing localized counts.
Zoom 9+ (Community Level): Individual community markers appear. Click on a marker to view details and access the 'Zoom on Archive Network' feature.
2. Community Interaction
Each community is represented by a pin coloured according to the legend below.
The colour indicates the status of archival material found relating to that community.
France (FR)
Italy (IT)
Switzerland (CH)

3. Filtering Data
Use the filters on the right-hand panel to refine the map's visualization based on:

The aggregate counts and individual markers update instantly when filters are applied.
